Cabinet Approves PM Gram Swaraj Scheme with ₹7,395 Crore Funding

The Union Cabinet approved the Prime Minister's Developed Gram Swaraj Scheme (PMVGSY) with a budget of ₹7,395 crore to strengthen institutional capacity and governance at the local level. The scheme, chaired by PM Narendra Modi, will run from 2026-27 to 2030-31, benefiting over 2.55 lakh panchayats and around 32 lakh elected representatives and stakeholders. The central government will contribute ₹4,869 crore, and states ₹2,526 crore.
