BIR Intensifies Nationwide Tax Enforcement Campaign

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) conducted a five-day nationwide tax enforcement operation, inspecting 7,685 establishments and 14,806 CRM/POS machines. It flagged 842 establishments and sealed 385 machines to improve sales recording compliance. BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza emphasized efforts to strengthen taxpayer compliance and discussed with IMF experts the implementation of a data-driven Compliance Risk Management system to address tax risks and improve enforcement.
