The Greater Bengaluru Authority and Bangalore Development Authority have proposed hundreds of kilometres of new roads to ease traffic. However, many proposed routes run along lake buffers and stormwater drains, encroaching on water bodies like Doddanekundi, Nallurahalli, and Bellandur lakes. This threatens Bengaluru's shrinking lakes, reduces water-holding capacity, obstructs drainage, and risks increased flooding and commercial development on ecologically sensitive land.
