Asian Football Confederation postpones 2027 Asian Cup due to Middle East conflict
The 2027 Asian Cup soccer tournament has been postponed by nearly a year following deadly attacks in Saudi Arabia. The Asian Football Confederation delayed the event from January 7, 2027, to December 23, 2027, citing logistical challenges and travel disruptions caused by regional conflict. The monthlong tournament will feature 24 teams across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar, with new dates pending FIFA approval.
