ISRO plans to include civilians in its Gaganyaan mission's second and third batches, selecting STEM experts alongside military pilots. The second batch may have 10 astronauts, including 4 civilians, and the third batch 12 astronauts. Selected candidates will undergo 54 months of training. The mission aims for new space discoveries and establishing an Indian space station by 2035, making India the fourth country with human spaceflight capability.
