Adivasi Farmer's Paddy Payment Withheld Due to Alleged Old Loan
Kedar Singh, a 60-year-old Adivasi farmer from Bhavarmal village, Balrampur district, has not received payment of ₹1,20,280 for 38.80 quintals of paddy sold at support price for Kharif 2025-26. The district cooperative bank Ramanujganj branch has held his account citing a ₹1.92 lakh loan from 2022, which Singh denies. He alleges the bank demanded ₹500 bribe and withheld payment, causing hardship due to his serious illnesses. Singh has appealed to the collector for intervention.
