X says police order to remove Indian free-speech groups' accounts was fake

X informed an Indian court that police orders demanding the blocking of accounts belonging to two major Indian free speech groups, Internet Freedom Foundation and Software Freedom Law Centre, were fake. The orders, impersonating a senior Delhi police officer, falsely accused the groups of defaming the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. X's lawyer revealed the company’s internal investigation confirmed the orders were fraudulent. Delhi police have not yet commented.
