World's Oldest Shipwreck Found Near Turkey's Kekova Island
Archaeologists have discovered the world's oldest shipwreck near Kekova Island, Antalya, Turkey, dating back 4,400 to 4,700 years to the Early Bronze Age, contemporaneous with Egypt's Great Pyramid construction. The 10-meter cargo vessel's wooden structure has decayed, but 30 ceramic amphorae found underwater helped date the wreck. The ship likely traded across the Mediterranean Sea, lying 30 meters below the surface.
