Women Twice as Likely to Use Public Transport for Work in India
The National Household Travel Survey reveals that women in India are twice as likely as men to use public transport or walk for their work commute. About 67% of women rely on walking, buses, or trains, compared to 33% of men. In rural areas, over half of working women walk to work, while men often use two-wheelers. Urban women use two-wheelers but also public transport extensively.
