A woman named Tannishtha Saha, claiming to be Mamata Banerjee’s niece, allegedly tried to enter the former chief minister’s security cordon with a knife on Tuesday evening near Banerjee’s Kalighat residence. Intoxicated and violent, she was stopped by party MP Dola Sen, who filed a complaint with Kalighat police. The woman reportedly acted aggressively and was known as a civic volunteer and drug addict.
