Kanika Talukdar from Assam started a vermicomposting business with just Rs 500 after losing her husband and raising her four-month-old daughter. She learned vermicomposting at a 2014 training by Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Nalbari, using cow dung and organic waste. Supported by local agriculture offices, she produced 17 quintals of vermicompost in her first year, earning Rs 16,000. Her products now sell on Amazon and Flipkart.
