West Bengal Solar Rooftop Installations Increase Sevenfold Under Central Scheme

Rooftop solar installations in West Bengal have increased nearly seven times since May 2026 under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojna scheme. Installations rose from 1,477 in April 2026 to 10,146 by October 15, 2026. Subsidies released grew over eightfold, from ₹4.21 crore to ₹34.62 crore. The rise followed the BJP-led state government taking office in May 2026, easing previous resistance to the scheme.
