Vithya Ramraj Breaks PT Usha's 42-Year 400m Hurdles Record

Vithya Ramraj from Tamil Nadu won the bronze medal in the women's 400m hurdles at the 2026 Asian Games with a national record time of 54.75 seconds, breaking PT Usha's 42-year-old record of 55.42 seconds set at the 1984 Olympics. Born in Coimbatore in 1998, Vithya began athletics with her twin sister in Erode and joined the national camp in 2018. She narrowly missed gold, finishing behind UAE's Mariam Kareem and Kazakhstan's Adelina Zems.
