Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) achieved a record by handling 50 million metric tonnes of cargo in just 196 days during the 2026–27 financial year, reaching this milestone on October 13, 2026. This is faster than previous years, reducing the time by 17 days compared to 2025–26 and 28 days compared to 2024–25. Growth was driven by large vessels and bulk liquid cargo, including a record crude oil discharge in June.

DoT Mandates Caller Name Presentation on 4G and 5G from November

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has instructed all authorized telecom service providers to implement Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) on 4G and 5G networks nationwide starting November 1.
