Vietnam has withdrawn a proposal that would have allowed children aged 15 to 17 to donate their organs after death following public criticism. The country, which began kidney transplants in 1992 and performs the most annual transplants in Southeast Asia, relies mainly on living donors. Officials aim to update the 2006 organ donation law to increase transplants while protecting donors. The revised draft now permits only legal adults to donate organs.
