US Justice Department Challenges California Over 20,000 Suspected Noncitizen Ballots
The US Justice Department is seeking to block the counting of about 20,000 ballots in California linked to suspected noncitizen voters ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Bill Essayli, US attorney for Central District of California, warned that noncitizens voting could compromise election integrity. California opposes federal intervention, and the dispute is before a Ninth Circuit appeals panel, which will decide soon.
