The US Food and Drug Administration has approved an India-made generic version of lenacapavir, the world's only twice-a-year HIV prevention shot. Developed by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories with support from Unitaid, Clinton Health Access Initiative, and Wits RHI, this approval aims to provide affordable access in 120 low- and middle-income countries. The drug will cost about USD 40 per year, offering a more convenient alternative to daily pills and significantly reducing new HIV infections.
