BusinessUS Dollar Flat After Softer-Than-Expected August Inflation Data
The US dollar remained flat against major currencies following a smaller-than-expected 0.3% rise in the August Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index. This softer inflation data reduced market expectations for a Federal Reserve interest rate hike. Despite initial falls in US Treasury yields, the dollar is still set for monthly gains against the euro, Swiss franc, and pound sterling. Crude oil prices are also poised for a significant monthly increase.
