HealthUS Bill Targets Heart Disease Risk in South Asian Americans
A bipartisan group of US lawmakers reintroduced the South Asian Heart Health Awareness and Research Act to address the high incidence of heart disease among South Asian Americans. The bill authorizes federal grants for culturally appropriate programs, research, and public awareness. South Asians face four times the heart disease risk compared to the general population. The legislation aims to improve data, prevention, and treatment through targeted funding until 2028.
