US Army Tests Mass Battlefield Graves for Future Conflicts
The US Army conducted a rare exercise in North Carolina to practice digging mass battlefield graves, a procedure not used since the Korean War. Soldiers from the 3rd Corps Sustainment Command and 20th Engineer Brigade at Fort Bragg, along with military chaplains, tested heavy equipment to preserve bodies for identification and repatriation. Sgt. 1st Class Delbert Ruede emphasized the importance of a scientific, respectful approach to managing fallen soldiers in high-intensity conflicts.
