PoliticsUPSC Marks 100 Years with Rising Women’s Participation
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will complete 100 years on October 1, 2026, marking a century of evolution in India's civil service recruitment. Originating from the Indian Civil Service (ICS) exam started in London in 1855, the exam initially favored British-educated candidates. The first Indian to pass was Satyendranath Tagore in 1863. In 1922, the exam was held in India for the first time, initially in Allahabad.
