ScienceUnique 1.81-Hour Binary Star Challenges Dwarf Nova Outburst Models
Astronomers studying the binary star system ZTF J0007+4804, with a 1.81-hour orbit, have observed dwarf nova outbursts for the first time in a hot subdwarf–white dwarf binary. This discovery, made using the Zwicky Transient Facility and NASA’s TESS satellite, challenges existing theories about matter behavior in ultracompact stellar remnants.
