The Union Cabinet has revised the Agnipath scheme, extending the tenure of Agniveers from four to six years. Originally, 25% of Agniveers were to be enrolled for full service after four years, with 75% released. Now, the remaining 75% will get an additional two-year engagement. After six years, eligible Agniveers may be enrolled based on operational skills and discipline, aiming to retain trained personnel longer.
