UN Loss and Damage Fund Allocates $21.6 Million to Nepal for Bhote Koshi Disaster
The United Nations' Loss and Damage Fund has provisionally approved $21.6 million for Nepal to address damages from the Bhote Koshi River floods in August, which killed at least 1,000 people and left over 5,000 missing. This is the first allocation since the fund's creation at COP 28, marking a key step in climate finance for developing countries. Nepal must still formally apply for the funds.
