Two Workers Die Repairing Motor in Kodungaiyur Drainage Sump

Two workers employed by a private firm contracted by the Greater Chennai Corporation died on October 12 while repairing a faulty electric motor inside a nearly 20-feet deep stormwater drainage sump in Kodungaiyur, Chennai. The deceased, M Naveen Kumar (34) and M Asmath Basha (38), reportedly died due to asphyxiation or possibly electric shock. Postmortem is pending.
