ScienceTwo New Islands Form Near Indonesia's Anak Krakatau Volcano
Two new islands have appeared in the waters around Mount Anak Krakatau in Indonesia following a major eruption last month. The islands were identified in satellite images of the volcano's caldera in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra. One island is about 760 meters northwest, and the other about 495 meters southwest of Anak Krakatau, according to Indonesia's Volcano Monitoring Agency.
