Two Foreigners Die by Electrocution at Bengaluru Hotel Pool

Two foreign nationals, Alexander Maximilian Theiss, a German Lufthansa crew member, and Juraj Horvàth, a Slovak IBM project manager, died from electrocution while swimming at the Conrad Hotel pool in Bengaluru's Halasuru on Friday evening. Two others, American tourist Mathew DeSantis and hotel lifeguard Rahul Tiwari, were injured while trying to rescue them and are now out of danger at Manipal Hospital. Police are investigating the incident.

ISRO Plans Five Major Missions Including Gaganyaan Unmanned Flight

ISRO strengthened India's NavIC system by successfully launching the NVS-03 navigation satellite, bringing the total to four satellites in orbit. Two more satellites are being prepared, and one is awaiting approval to reach the required seven for better navigation services. ISRO plans at least five launches this fiscal year, including the first unmanned mission of Gaganyaan, with three unmanned missions planned before sending humans to space. Over 8,000 tests have been conducted so far.

ISRO flew NVS-03 satellite with pyro valves open to ensure mission success

ISRO chief V Narayanan stated that to overcome technical issues and ensure mission reliability, the NVS-03 satellite was operated with three pyro valves open. This decision followed rigorous vibration and shock tests by a national committee led by former ISRO chief Kiran Kumar. The move addressed previous failures seen in the NVS-02 satellite launched in 2025. ISRO plans to launch NVS-04 next, with four satellites now active in India's navigation system.

Man Escapes Police Custody Before Coimbatore Central Prison Admission

Raghavan, a 25-year-old convicted of theft in Bengaluru, escaped police custody for the second time in Coimbatore early on October 31, 2026. He was arrested on October 30 and remanded to judicial custody but escaped around 12:40 a.m. by pushing escorting police before entering Coimbatore Central Prison. Police launched an intensive search with drone surveillance and special teams.
