TVK Functionary Arrested for Trafficking 135 kg Meth in Nagapattinam

On October 16, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence arrested N Boopalan, a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam functionary and advocate, in Nagapattinam for allegedly smuggling 135 kg of methamphetamine worth several hundred crore rupees. The drugs were transported from Chennai to Nagapattinam and then possibly to Sri Lanka. Another suspect, J Suganathan, was also raided. Investigations suggest a wider drug network involving Sri Lanka.
