Turkey has submitted the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement to its parliament for ratification, formalizing a trilateral security pact with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The treaty mandates collective defense, where an attack on one is considered an attack on all three. It establishes a 10-year command structure with a Strategic Political and Defence Committee and a permanent secretariat in Riyadh. Pakistan's retired Lt. Gen. Nauman Mahmood will serve as the first secretary-general for three years.
