BusinessTSX Gains Most in Five Weeks as Rate Hike Expectations Drop
Canada's main stock index, the S&P/TSX Composite, rose 519.24 points (1.48%) to 35,664.62, its biggest gain in five weeks and highest close in two weeks. The rise was driven by Aritzia and metal mining shares after weaker-than-expected September jobs data showed a loss of 68,300 jobs and a 6.5% unemployment rate, reducing expectations for Bank of Canada rate hikes.
