The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has mandated telecom operators and ISPs to operate 24/7 complaint centres managed by AI agents, with human support available for at least 16 hours daily. New rules include penalties up to ₹20 lakh per quarter per service area for mishandling complaints. AI systems must have human oversight and notify consumers when interacting with AI. These amendments update telecom complaint regulations last revised in 2014.
