Pradyot Debbarma, founder of the regional party Tipra Motha and former Congress leader, announced his decision to quit active politics citing health issues. The 48-year-old, a prominent figure in Tripura politics and scion of the royal family, led Tipra Motha to become the second largest party in the 2023 Assembly elections, winning 13 of 60 seats. He focused on uniting indigenous communities for their protection.
