The three-year-old tigress T138 now roams the grasslands east of the Pandai river in Bihar’s Valmiki Tiger Reserve, part of the India-Nepal transboundary tiger landscape. Two decades ago, mining and stone crushers near the area disrupted tiger habitat. Legal efforts, including a Supreme Court case in 1995, helped curb mining and restore the habitat, enabling tiger population recovery through translocation.
