Tidal Flow Restoration Boosts Marsh Wren and Marsh Birds in California
California's Dutch Slough wetlands restoration has significantly increased Marsh Wren populations and other marsh bird species from 2020 to 2025. The project involved reintroducing tidal flows and planting native vegetation on former farmland. While some species declined, overall bird diversity improved markedly in the restored wetlands, highlighting the success of ecological restoration efforts.
