At IISc Bengaluru, a replica of the spectrograph used by Sir C V Raman and K S Krishnan is displayed. Raman’s Nobel-winning experiments began in 1921 aboard a ship crossing the Mediterranean Sea, where he studied the sea's blueness caused by light scattering. This led to his discovery of the Raman Effect, earning him the Nobel Prize in 1930 as the first Asian laureate in science.
