Telangana Urban Groundwater Levels Drop 6.85 Metres in 2026

Groundwater levels in 46 mandals across Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, and Sangareddy districts fell by an average of 6.85 metres in September 2026 compared to September 2025. The average depth increased from 4.73 metres below ground level to 11.58 metres. Kukatpally recorded the lowest level at 20.67 metres. Experts suggest installing aerators on taps and directing treated water to lakes to address the decline, linked to El Nino effects and water shortages.

21 Protected Turtles Rescued in Madhya Pradesh After Gang Tip-Off

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the State Tiger Strike Force rescued 21 protected turtles following a tip-off from Raunak Juneja, an arrested member of an interstate wildlife smuggling gang. The recovered turtles include 19 Indian Pond turtles and 2 Star Tortoises, both protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Five accused have been arrested so far in the case.
