Teen Invents Affordable Wearable Stethoscope for Better Diagnostics
Kayley Xu, a Year 12 student, invented Aucura, a wearable stethoscope to improve respiratory diagnostics and accessibility. Motivated by her pneumonia recovery, she aimed to enhance traditional stethoscopes that have seen little change. Xu created a human torso model to test her device and designed it to be affordable for rural and underfunded clinics, improving access to medical technology.
