Teacher and Surgeon Turned Farm into Nature Preserve
In 1969, teacher Beth Temple married surgeon Dr. Arvid Temple, who owned a dairy farm in Will County, Illinois. Over time, the 160-acre farm became a shared passion. After Arvid's death in 2007, Beth continued caring for the land. Today, more than 50 years later, the farm is protected: 40 acres were donated to the Forest Preserve District in 2020, and the remaining 120 acres are under conservation easement with full transfer planned.
