Tamil Nadu Sets Car Purchase Limits for Ministers and MLAs

The Tamil Nadu government has amended Assembly Travelling Allowance Rules, setting a ₹26 lakh car purchase ceiling for Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Leader of Opposition, and Chief Government Whip. Other MLAs have a ₹15 lakh limit. The ceiling will increase by 5% annually. Cars for Ministers will be procured by the government, while the Assembly Secretariat will procure cars for other key functionaries and MLAs via the GeM portal, covering maintenance and related expenses.
