Tamil Nadu Imposes Rs 10 Environmental Cess on Alcohol Bottles

From November 1, Tamil Nadu consumers must pay an additional Rs 10 per bottle of alcohol as an environmental and social welfare cess. The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) will apply this to Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), beer, and wine. Customers can reclaim the Rs 10 by returning empty bottles to any authorized TASMAC outlet, promoting environmental protection and transparency in bottle returns.
