Tamil Nadu Eases Domicile Rules for Gold Ring Scheme
The Tamil Nadu government has relaxed the domicile criteria for the Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam. Now, children whose mothers were born in Tamil Nadu but moved to another state after marriage are eligible if their parents reside permanently in Tamil Nadu. The scheme, launched on September 28, 2026, provides a one-gram gold ring to children born in government hospitals in Tamil Nadu, effective retroactively from June 22, 2026.
