Tamil Nadu CM Vijay to Launch Gold Ring Scheme for Newborns

On September 28, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay will launch the Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam, a scheme providing one-gram gold rings to newborns. The government has prepared 1.28 lakh rings for distribution. Newborns after June 22 are eligible if mothers register under the state monitoring system. Rs 755.83 crore is allocated to provide about 4.41 lakh rings annually.
