PoliticsTaipei Police Raid on Gay Bar Sparks LGBTQ+ Protest
Around 100 members of Taipei's LGBTQ+ community protested after police raided the Commander D gay bar in Wanhua district, detaining 51 people and arresting the owner. The raid, citing suspected public morality offenses, is unusual in Taiwan, known for legalizing same-sex marriage in 2019 and its liberal stance. Taipei's main Pride event is scheduled later this month.
