Sydney Student Develops Chemical-Free Solar Weed Control System
Daniel Cox, a student at The Scots College in Sydney, created SunRays, a solar-thermal system that uses motorised mirrors to direct sunlight for chemical-free weed control. His project, titled “A Distributed Solar Photothermal System for Scalable, Chemical-Free Weed Control,” won the Fourth Award of $600 in the Environmental Engineering category at the 2026 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair.
