The Supreme Court ruled that deducting pension earned from previous service from the salary of a post-retirement appointment does not violate the principle of equal pay for equal work. The court clarified this deduction is a temporary abeyance, not withdrawal of pension. It overturned a 2010 Uttarakhand High Court ruling, affirming that employees accepting re-employment with knowledge of regulations cannot later challenge them.
