Supreme Court to Order Preventive Measures Against Online Child Sexual Abuse

The Supreme Court agreed to issue orders on preventive steps by the Centre and stakeholders to curb online child sexual exploitative and abuse material (CSEAM). The Ministry of Electronics and IT submitted a draft Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for intermediaries to prevent, remove, and report CSEAM content to a government portal. The SOP was prepared with the Ministries of Women and Child Development, Home Affairs, and Telecommunications. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta emphasized the seriousness and need for more time to finalize the SOP.
