Supreme Court tells Andhra poll body to halt candidates' list over poll confidence
The Supreme Court directed the Andhra Pradesh election body to halt the release of candidates' lists, emphasizing the importance of confidence in polls for democracy. Senior advocate Maninder Singh, representing YSRCP, claimed over 63% of YSRCP candidates in 19 urban local bodies were blocked or had their nomination papers torn. Advocate Sidharth Luthra, for the AP government, accused YSRCP of importing criminals from Punjab and inciting violence.
