PoliticsSupreme Court Strength Rises to 37 with Three New Judges
Three new judges—Justice Sunita Agarwal, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, and Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh—were appointed to the Supreme Court, raising its working strength to 37, one short of the sanctioned 38. The appointments were announced by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal following the Supreme Court Collegium's recommendation on September 28. The sanctioned strength was recently increased from 34 to 38 by the Supreme Court Amendment Act, 2026.
