Supreme Court Rules Governor Must Invite Largest Party to Form Government
The Supreme Court's constitution benches have ruled that a governor must invite the single largest party or post-poll alliance to form the government after elections. The governor cannot question how the majority support was obtained by the party or alliance, as established in the landmark S R Bommai case and subsequent rulings.
