The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a plea demanding mandatory rotation of seats reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Parliament and state assemblies. The bench, led by CJI Surya Kant, said this issue is for the legislature, not the judiciary. It upheld the Delimitation Act, 2002, which identifies reserved constituencies based on SC/ST population concentration without requiring rotation.
